Amazon Kindle is the app for all those who love to read. It has a collection of over 1.5 million books that you can choose from including popular magazines and newspapers. The app gives you access to over one million free ebooks as well as shop for bestsellers and new releases even without owning a Kindle device. Selection and price of ebooks and e-periodicals differ by country. The app includes a variety of customization and accessibility features like changing the text size, increasing or reducing the display brightness, modifying the background color, and defining the preferred display orientation. Additional features also include a built-in dictionary to foster seamless reading experience. Deciding to buy an ebook is made easier through the preview provided which gives you access to the first few pages of the book. Amazon Kindle app enables readers to synchronize the same book across devices automatically. It syncs your bookmarks, notes, highlights, and furthest page read between your devices through the Whispersync technology. Amazon.com Inc released in 2009 when the first version of the Kindle app designed for PC running on Microsoft Windows. The succeeding year has a lot of progress with the development of Kindle app for a variety of compatibilities to Apple Macintosh, OS X system, Android, Apple iOS and Blackberry OS. Amazon also launched the app for Windows phone, a beta model of Kindle for HP TouchPad, and HTML5-based web app for Kindle Cloud Reader in the year 2011. The Cloud Reader can be utilized on browsers in Linux, which has no Kindle application yet as of July 2016. According to their website, Amazon Kindle has more than one hundred million downloads as of September 2017.
